  • Discuss tax-related moving expenses, liabilities, and deductions with your tax advisor.
  • Make a list of all people/organizations to contact about change of address.

Four Weeks Before Move:

  • Get an itemized list of all moving related costs and review with mover, including packing, loading, special charges, insurance, vehicles (if needed), etc.
  • Contact all current and new location utility companies (gas, water, electric, cable TV, phone & trash collection) to set connect/disconnect dates. Remember to keep current utilities hooked up until move day.
  • Make arrangements for relocation of pets and plants.
  • Move valuables to safe deposit box to prevent loss during move.
  • If you are packing yourself, acquire packing materials/boxes and pack items you won't need for the next month.
  • If professional mover is packing your goods, schedule packing day(s) 1 or 2 days before move.
  • Prepare any mowers, snow blowers, boats, snowmobiles (or other vehicles you won't be using before the move) for the move by servicing and draining gas and oil, to prevent a moving van fire.
  • Repair, send out for re-upholstery, or clean furniture, drapes, carpeting as needed.

What my clients are saying

When it came to making a decision to list my home, I interviewed several real estate companies. The deciding reason I chose Charles Joyce Real Estate was their aggressive approach to marketing my home. They pushed the ceiling price in my community beyond anything that has sold in the past 23 years. Yes, I am thrilled to have selected them as my real estate agent. On a scale of 1-10 they were an 11 for me! Rick Hammond formerly of Spruce Creek Preserve, Dunnellon, FL

8 years ago, Joy sold me my fabulous home here in Stone Creek, she was fantastic. So when I decided to sell my home, I called Joy again and she was even better this time! She put together a market analysis that blew away the other real estate companies I talked to, she was a no pressure person and I liked that. In the end I couldn’t see hiring another person to sell my home. Joy had it under agreement in less than 21 days and closed in 45 days. There are many real estate agents to chose from and Joy Summers was the right realtor for me! Ursula Leader, formerly of Stone Creek

Patience, patience and more patience that's what Joy & Charlie had in helping us to find a home here in the adult community of Oak Run. Our search was long and at times exhaustive, trying anyone's patience. We were never abandoned despite a number of setbacks in our search. They showed us "everything" possible and worked extremely hard so that we could find our new home. We thank them both!! Barb & Gary Gosa of Oak Run, Ocala, FL

Joy is phenominal! When our bank financing fell through 2 days before our scheduled close date we could not purchase our home. With Joy's willingness to go to bat for us, she convinced the seller to take a lease purchase deal until we were able to sell our existing home which we were able to do with Joy's marketing efforts. Her quick thinking and willingness to go the extra distance for us made allowed us to purchase our dream home here. She gets the job done with professionalism and she has become a dear friend to us!
